Travel in Turkey

As a Gemini, I have always been into travel. I love the act of travelling from the first moment until the last minute of it. Travelling equals to discovering, thus learning to me and I believe learning keeps one’s body, mind and soul healthy, young and alive.

Keeping my passion for travel in mind, I consider myself lucky as a person living in Turkey. Our country is a peninsula surrounded by three different seas and located at the junction point of two continents; Asia and Europe. Every region, even every town of the country offers a lot to discover. From where shall I begin travelling?

While the Black Sea Region (northern Turkey), covered with dense forests, promises days filled with nature, the Mediterranean Region (southern Turkey), especially Antalya and its surroundings is the first choice of millions of international tourists when it comes to a summer holiday with its bright sun and warm sea.

The whole Aegean Region (western Turkey) on the other hand, is a must-see; one can start driving from the northern point of the region, visit EphesusPamukkale and would never wish to reach the southern point, as every tiny Aegean village is so scenic and relaxing.

Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia (east and southeast Turkey) are the cradle of civilizations where the traces of Christianity are still discoverable.

Central Anatolia (central Turkey) hosts Ankara; the heart and capital city of the Turkish Republic which has been founded by the great statesman and solider Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and Cappadocia, a legendary spot of exceptional natural wonders, particularly famous with its fairy chimneys.

For those who wish to follow the footsteps of the Ottoman EmpireThrace (European side of Turkey) offers magnificent and yet naïve architectural and cultural memories to be impressed by.

Needless to say, Istanbul is like a small country within country; one can find a piece of each region of Turkey in this giant, dazzling city. Our readers who wish to read more about Istanbul may check our post “Discover Istanbul”.

I love this quote of Mark Twain: “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

No matter how often you travel, there are always so many new places to see, so many new people to meet and so many new adventures to live. Let’s follow Twain’s advice and not be disappointed by the things we did not do. Let’s pack and travel!
